Warriors Fan Simon Wells Announces Trade Request

Longtime Warrior fan and past president of his high school’s Tim Hardaway fan club Simon Wells announced his desire for a trade via Twitter today. The Hayward California resident posted “cant take cohan any longer. Pls trade me to another team!” earlier this afternoon.

“I’m really hoping to root for a big-market team that gets a lot of games broadcast nationally,” said Simon later this afternoon. “And I’d really love the experience of following my team in a conference finals or even a league finals before I retire as a fan. Who knows where I could end up.”

Those close to Wells say that his discontent has been brewing for some time. “He was a big Baron (Davis) fan,” said his brother Justin. “Of course Simon was upset when he left the team. But it’s the little things that hurt him more. Trading Marco (Bellinelli) for (Devean) George is what pushed him over the edge.”

Not everyone was disheartened by Simon’s very public display of frustration. An anonymous poster who uses the handle “gsw-hoops” on the wildly popular and irrational warriorsworld.net website had this to say: “Simon didn’t actually go to many games or buy any products advertised during Warriors games, so there’s no net loss to the team. And, for the few games he did go to, his seat is now available to real fans. I see the team improving as a result.”

League rules strictly prohibit fans from publicly requesting to switch teams without penalty, and Simon is no exception. “As soon as I sent that tweet, I’ve gotten over 40 calls from ticket reps from every team in the league. That’s what the NBA does to disloyal fans. At first I was flattered, but now I wish they would all stop calling, except for Amy from the Heat. She sounds hot.”

Coolhand Luke & Tre Eightman

How long have you been a Warriors fan?

We have both been fans since we were fresh out of the womb, but got hooked during the J-Rich era (despite the ugly unis).

Fav. Current Warrior? Why?

Coolhand Luke: Captain Stack Jack because he goes hard in the paint and harder in the stands.

Tre Eightman: Anthony Morrow because he has persevered even though he went undrafted and has crooked teeth.

Fav. All time Warrior? Why?

CHL: Sarunas Marciulionis because he has the tightest name in Warriors history.

TE: By far my favorite play is World B. Free aka.Lloyd Bernard Free. Find me a doper name in the NBA with the skill set he had. But I have a number of obscure players I loved who come in a close second. For instance, Bimbo Coles, Chris Gatling, Manute Bol and the biggest beast of them all- Rony Seikaly.

Fav. Moment?

CHL: When Baron dunked on AK-47 and the arena went ape shit.

TE: The moment I heard the Warriors elected not to re-sign Erik Dampier.

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

CHL: Draft day… every year. Somehow the Warriors always manage to draft a Dunleavy.

TE: When the Warriors let Rob Kurz walk. I thought he would be the cornerstone of our team for decades.

What’s your feelings on the current ownership/management of the Warriors?

Our mother taught us; if we don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

You’re named Warriors GM, How would you improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

CHL: I would try to get my hands on Ron Artest and Leon Powe. Clearly, Artest is now a Laker and Powe is about to sign with the Cavs, but the W’s need some down-low muscle and savagery down on the blocks. Bonus points for bringing Powe (an Oakland Tech grad) back to Oakland and reuniting Artest and Captain Jack.

TE: I don’t know if the GM has the power, but I would have to change the logo with the quickness. I have heard the rumor that they are getting new uni’s for next year, but I will believe it when I see it. Oaklandish needs to design some straight Town uniforms.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

CHL: Lebron James, no question. He’s the best player in the league and is a one man urban redevelopment plan.

TE: Realistically, the Warriors need a lock down defender for the wing. Stack Jack is getting older and doesn’t quite have the skills on that end anymore. And no, Devean George is not the answer. But for old time sake, it would be funny to bring back Donyell Marshall. He constantly looks loaded and would fit in perfectly in Oakland.

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

CHL: Rub Chris Gatling’s steel plated head.

TE: Finally get to see what a championship parade looks like in Oakland.

W’S FAN FEATURE – KEITH TIVON GREGORY

How long have you been a Warriors fan?

I have been a Warriors fan all my life, I am born and raised in Oakland, CA and the Warriors were the only NBA team I ever watched in person growing up.

Fav. current Warrior? Why?

My favorite current Warrior is Andris Biedrins. I love the way he goes about the game, and he remains a major inside presence for our team. I love a player who can work hard and put their heart into the game, without requiring the ball all the time. He’s a hustler on the court, and I love his demeanor.

Fav. all Time Warrior? Why?

My favorite all time Warrior is Tim Hardaway. The PG/G position always seem to be what makes or breaks us, and I used to love practicing doing my own Killer Crossover. I attended Camp Hardaway every year at Merritt College (Oakland, CA) growing up and it gave me the opportunity to meet Tim in person, and he was always nice to all the kids at camp, it made me respect his contributions off the court as well as pay attention to him on the court.

Fav. Moment?

My favorite Warriors moment was definitely the 2007 playoff upset of Dallas. I got the unreal opportunity to attend each home game during that series, and it was a magical environment. A very surreal feeling being able to see your team actually create history, and win in the process. 2000 All-Star game in (Oakland, CA) runs a close second.

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

My worse moment as a Warriors fan, I am slightly torn between getting rid of Tim Hardaway, and letting Baron Davis walk. Baron was my 2nd favorite Warrior of all time, and the things he did to bring our franchise back into national prominence I felt deserved to go rewarded. It was tough seeing the Warriors let him go after being a witness to some of the great things he did on the court with the ball.

What’s your feelings on the current ownership/management of the Warriors?

Currently as a Warriors fan, I find it hard to really make sense of what the Ownership/Management are doing. However as a true fan, I have to sit back and hope for the best product to be put on the court ever single game. Sadly enough, I feel as if that’s not true in every case with the Warriors, but I remain optimistic. I absolutely love the Warriors and I am a die hard fan, but often times I wish certain situations and player personnel were handled a little bit different. Warriors games tend to be a fairly expensive night out, and if the management doesn’t put a product on the floor I can feel happy with paying, It tends to kind of hurts my feelings personally.

You’re named Warriors GM, How would you improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

That’s a tough call, I don’t want to be one of those know it all fans, but I would start by playing a more traditional lineup. PG/SG/SF/PF/C. I’m no longer a huge fan of the “Nellie Ball” without a super star play maker like Baron Davis handling the ball making plays for others. So I would likely start there.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

Any player? …ANY PLAYER? That’s a tough one…I would say Dwight Howard (LeBron being a close 2nd to him). Because as I feel, it’s rare you come across size and talent of his magnitude, and I see it being easier to build a team around a Center, rather than a SG or SF. (I dare not be a Warrior’s fan and request Kobe)

Finish the sentence, when the warriors win the championship, I will…?

Probably stay in the house…because we all know what happened when the Raiders lost the Super Bowl! (hah). In all honesty, I don’t know what I would do, I would be at such a lose for words, I would attend every event possible, take as many pictures as possible, and try my best to remember that moment, because it may only come once in a lifetime with any team.

W’s Fan Feature- BIG GUS

How long have you been a warriors fan?

I have been a Warriors fan since I was 8 yrs (1988) I remember it because this is when we had Manute Bol on the squad & everyone was trippin that dude was 7 feet 7 inches tall.

Fav. Current Warrior? Why?

For my favorite Warriors player, I would have to go with Stephen Jackson, homeboy is a beast.

Fav. All Time Warrior? Why?

My favorite all-time Warriors player has to be Tim Hardaway. Back in the days I went to a Warriors Jam in Oakland I think & I met him in the parking lot & he stopped and signed about 20 kids autographs before he went inside the event to sign more autographs.

Fav. Moment?

When we beat The Mavs in 07! We Believe!

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

When McDonalds discontinued the “Chris & Tim Burger” hahahaha
&
I would have to say when we lost to UTAH in the 2007 playoffs, broke my heart. So close yet so far away

What’s your feelings on the current Ownership/Management of the Warriors?

Like everything in life, it can use some improvement but overall I am content.

You’re named Warriors GM, How would you improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

Make sure we keep Nellie on as coach & bring some experienced players to the Warriors. Nothing against our young team but a little guidance & leadership would be good for our squad.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

The Bay may hate me for this one but, Kobe Bryant, I personally don’t like the dude but come on Kobe Bryant in a Warriors jersey GAME OVER!!!

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

Be courtside!!!!!!

W’s Fan Feature – Paul Kim

How Long have you been a Warriors fan?

I've been a Warriors fan since I was old enough to understand the concept of basketball. I'd say sometime around Mitch's rookie year in 1988. I've never been a fan of another team, and never will be.

Fav. Current Warrior? Why?

Favorite Warrior tag probably goes to both Anthony Randolph and Monta Ellis. Monta has all the tools to become an elite player. It's simply a matter of how bad he wants it. As for Randolph, he's just a joy to watch. I love his intensity and how he plays every possession as if he were playing in the finals. Plus I love the sad face he makes after any play he's involved in.

Fav. All Time Warrior? Why?

I'm going to have to go with Carlos Rogers on this one. As a child, I used to write fan mail to most of the players, and Carlos was the only guy kind enough to respond with a hand written letter, and he even sent me his rookie card with his autograph. I still have that thing. It's actually quite creepy how much Anthony Randolph reminds of Carlos Rogers; but obviously much better.

Gilbert Arenas was another fave of mine. I remember when J-Rich won mvp of the rookie game challenge in 2002, and Gil was in the back popping his Warriors jersey shouting "WARRIORS!!! OAKLAND BABY!" Pretty sad but that was a proud moment for me as a Warriors fan. Shame on them for not creating enough cap room to keep him in the Bay.

Fav. Moment?

Obviously that series where we knocked off the Mavs has to rank as one of my most memorable moments in Warrior history. But it was that final game of the season where we sneaked into the playoffs by beating the Blazers that I will always remember.

I had tears in my eyes that night, and updated my Facebook status by saying, "My Warriors haven't made the playoffs since I was in junior high, and I just cried." That "We Believe" season was magical. It's a shame it only lasted one season.

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

Hmmm… Trading C-Webb was devastating for me as a kid. I remember watching KRON4, and hearing Gary Radnich announce that the Warriors had re-signed Webber, then he paused and said they had then traded him to the Bullets for Tom Gugliotta. That hurt. Can you imagine what that team's lineup would have been that year? Tim Hardaway, Latrell Sprewell, Chris Mullin, Chris Webber, and Rony Seikaly!

What's your feelings on the current Ownership/Management of the Warriors?

Wow. I'll try and keep this as short as possible. The Warriors have been to the playoffs ONCE since Chris Cohan has been the majority owner. The Warriors have been one of the worst run franchises in all of pro sports over the last 15+ years. My fellow diehard Warrior fans know how I feel. You know it's bad when people laugh after you admit to them that you're a Warrior fan.

How many teams have been contenders, then rebuilt, and contended again; all while our Warriors have remained at the bottom of the standings year after year after year? It's no fun knowing that your team is the laughingstock of the NBA; especially since I live in Laker country. But I will say this: The only people within the organization I have a problem with are Chris Cohan and Robert Rowell.

The team invites me to sing the national anthem every season, and the employees treat me with the utmost respect. They always take care of me when I'm at the arena, and for that I will always be grateful to all the employees at Oracle.

You're named Warriors GM, How would you  improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

When it was clear that Baron was not coming back, they should have rebuilt the team with youngsters. Giving Stephen Jackson an extension, signing Corey Maggette to a massive deal, and trading for Jamal Crawford was just a huge mistake. What were they thinking? Now they are stuck with older players with terrible contracts. You need to build your team around a star. Every team with a winning record has at least one all star caliber player. At some point the Warriors are going to have to realize that a team full of role players is mediocre at best.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

I'd build my franchise around Lebron James. He almost singlehandedly carried the Cavs to the finals. Did you see the scrubs they placed around Lebron this year? That dude is a monster. Derrick Rose is another guy I would love to see in a throwback Warriors jersey.

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

Sob like a baby and purchase a lottery ticket.

W’s Fan Feature – Branden Peters

Branden Peters, Editor in Chief, www.kuhvet.com

How Long have you been a warriors fan?

Since I went to my first game when I was about 5 years old at the Oakland (not Oracle) Coliseum. We were playing the Seattle SuperSonics.

Fav. Current Warrior? Why?

I’d have to say Monta, I like him personally and I like his game. With the right direction and work he could be one of the best small guards of our time.

Fav. All Time Warrior? Why?

I’d have to say Tim Hardaway. His crossover was sick, his pull up J off the dribble was so fluid and when he drove to the hole and yelled at the ball to get in the hoop, it always made me laugh, just classic.

Fav. Moment?

Beating the Mav’s in the playoffs a couple years back. I’ve never been in a louder arena. I flew from NY to go to a round 1 game and it was well worth the trip and I picked it.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-24-24/Those-Geniuses-Who-Picked-Golden-State.html

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

The whole Spreewell/P.J. debacle that was the end of us possibly being good for a long time. A close second is bringing Nellie back to clean up the mess he was responsible for, even though he coached us to the playoffs he still sucks as a coach.

What's your feelings on the current Ownership/Management of the Warriors?

I could go on about his for days. Management is a joke and it won’t get better until Rowell is demoted or fired. He places personal feelings over smart basketball decisions.

You're named Warriors GM, How would you improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

I’d fire Nellie and put Captain Jack and Maggette on the trading block to see who’d bite. It’s a youth movement that we need.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

Dwight Howard, he’s what we’ve been missing for years. I’m a Biedrins fan but I feel that he could be equally as effective at the 4.

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

Be in the streets of Oakland or wherever we win at going crazy. Then I’ll collect my money from all the naysayers.

Do you Visit Warriorsworld.net?

No doubt.

May 5, 1982 I entered the world with my Rick Barry Jersey on…My way of saying all my life

  Fav. current Warrior? Why?

Anthony Randolph
His motor just doesnt stop and his upside is HUGE. His athleticism and speed is amazing for someone his size. He is going to be a cornerstone in the Warriors future progression.

    Fav. all time Warrior? Why?

Has to be Chris Mullin. One of the best pure shooters I have ever seen. You just knew that when he put the ball in the air it was going in. Not to mention he was an original member of The Dream Team which is hands down the most dominant team in any major sports history

    Fav. moment?

Baron Davis DUNKING all over Andre Kirilenko! I was at that game and I was screaming a and cheering so loud I lost my voice almost instantly!

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

Draft Day 2007 when the Warriors traded away Jason Richardson. That one really hurt me as I know it hurt alot of Warriors fans. J Rich was the heart and soul of that Warrior team and really dedicated his career to helping the team get better. He stuck it out through all the rough times and just when it seemed like there was a light at the end of the tunnel they sent him packing.

What's your feelings on the current Ownership/Management of the Warriors?

Im confused just like all the other fans out there!

You're named Warriors GM, How would you  improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

We have to build the young talent. We have a solid young core and ARE the youngest team in the NBA so I think we need to let the young guys shine so we can see what really have. Evaluate our young players so we are able to make a smart move instead of a season by season desperation signing.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

LeBron James! NUFF SAID

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

Probably be dead! LoL…Nah I will actually probably cry. Warriors fans are the best in all of the NBA and we deserve it more then any other team.

W’s Fan Feature- Aubrey Aquino

How Long Have you been a warriors fan?

Well, I was born in San Jose and grew up in the Bay, so I've been a fan for as long as I can remember! I grew up on the NBA.

Fav. All Time Warrior? Why?

My favorite All Time Warrior has to be Chris Webber, because when he was drafted #1 in 1993 and they traded (Anfernee Hardaway) to get him…it brought so much fresh excitement (an promise) to Warriors basketball … I just wish it would've worked out!

Fav. Moment?

There are so many, but I loved it when they had the Tim and Chris burger at McDonald's on in the mid-90's when the fans would get a free chalupa or pizza or something when the Warriors scored more than 120 at home…that was always funny to watch on TV. It's also fun when the Warriors come and play in Miami and I think..the Bay is in the bldg!

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

Getting rid of CWebb over Don Nelson, only to fire Don Nelson right after…or The "strangling" incident…Latrell Spreewell and PJ Carlisimo

How would you like them to improve?

I think it's just a matter of consistently winning and being seen as "competitive" every time they play! I hate hearing the "oh it's just the Warriors" i.e. easy win in the eyes of other teams!

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

Lebron James

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

Buy some fresh new Warrior gear and go out to eat at Crustacean!
