WarriorsWorld Podcast — Episode 3

In the third episode of the WarriorsWorld podcast, Ben and myself talk about the major deal with KNBR and the Warriors and the radio wars between KNBR and The Game.

In our second segment we interview former Warriors big man Ekpe Udoh and talk about the transition from the Bay Area to Milwaukee, his off the court hobbies, his infatuation with Betty White, his music choices of the past year and his thoughts on fellow Baylor Bear Robert Griffin III.

We wrap it up by talking about the Warriors and their small forward debate: who should start? Who do we think will start? Finally, we talk a little Brooklyn Nets and JaVale McGee.

We continue to work on the podcast getting on iTunes, it’s in the process of approval and should be done very soon. We’ll keep you posted.

We’ve received many questions about whether or not the podcast will be on iTunes. We are currently working on that and as soon as we get the green light from Apple, we will let you all know.

Finally, thanks to everyone for all the feedback from our first show. All of it was much appreciated.

Vote for Golden State’s Biggest Fan

The Warriors’ fan base is known throughout the league as one of the best in terms of devotion to their team. I mean, what else can explain fans filling Oracle Arena for the past decade-plus despite one winning season in the past 15 years? I’ve been to games on a random Wednesday evening against bottom-feeding teams with that place filled and the fans just as passionate as a primetime game against the Lakers.

But if you think you’re Golden State’s biggest fan, I’m sorry to inform you, but you’re probably coming in second place to this guy, Septer from Vallejo, CA.

ESPN is currently holding a Hall of Fans contest to determine who is the most hardcore fan of their respective team. Septer is currently one of the ten finalists and rightfully so. This guy has Warriors memorabilia for days, a Warriors tattoo and he even got married at Oracle Arena.

Read that again. Married at Oracle Arena. Oh, and of course his wedding colors were blue and yellow.

I showed this picture and subsequent video to my girlfriend and she immediately replied with, “No.” Maybe you’ll have better luck.

I encourage any and all Warrior fans to go and vote for this guy and help him get enshrined into the Hall of Fans because frankly, he deserves it.

Click here to vote and watch the video of Septer making his case:

Warriors Fan Simon Wells Announces Trade Request

Longtime Warrior fan and past president of his high school’s Tim Hardaway fan club Simon Wells announced his desire for a trade via Twitter today. The Hayward California resident posted “cant take cohan any longer. Pls trade me to another team!” earlier this afternoon.

“I’m really hoping to root for a big-market team that gets a lot of games broadcast nationally,” said Simon later this afternoon. “And I’d really love the experience of following my team in a conference finals or even a league finals before I retire as a fan. Who knows where I could end up.”

Those close to Wells say that his discontent has been brewing for some time. “He was a big Baron (Davis) fan,” said his brother Justin. “Of course Simon was upset when he left the team. But it’s the little things that hurt him more. Trading Marco (Bellinelli) for (Devean) George is what pushed him over the edge.”

Not everyone was disheartened by Simon’s very public display of frustration. An anonymous poster who uses the handle “gsw-hoops” on the wildly popular and irrational warriorsworld.net website had this to say: “Simon didn’t actually go to many games or buy any products advertised during Warriors games, so there’s no net loss to the team. And, for the few games he did go to, his seat is now available to real fans. I see the team improving as a result.”

League rules strictly prohibit fans from publicly requesting to switch teams without penalty, and Simon is no exception. “As soon as I sent that tweet, I’ve gotten over 40 calls from ticket reps from every team in the league. That’s what the NBA does to disloyal fans. At first I was flattered, but now I wish they would all stop calling, except for Amy from the Heat. She sounds hot.”

Coolhand Luke & Tre Eightman

How long have you been a Warriors fan?

We have both been fans since we were fresh out of the womb, but got hooked during the J-Rich era (despite the ugly unis).

Fav. Current Warrior? Why?

Coolhand Luke: Captain Stack Jack because he goes hard in the paint and harder in the stands.

Tre Eightman: Anthony Morrow because he has persevered even though he went undrafted and has crooked teeth.

Fav. All time Warrior? Why?

CHL: Sarunas Marciulionis because he has the tightest name in Warriors history.

TE: By far my favorite play is World B. Free aka.Lloyd Bernard Free. Find me a doper name in the NBA with the skill set he had. But I have a number of obscure players I loved who come in a close second. For instance, Bimbo Coles, Chris Gatling, Manute Bol and the biggest beast of them all- Rony Seikaly.

Fav. Moment?

CHL: When Baron dunked on AK-47 and the arena went ape shit.

TE: The moment I heard the Warriors elected not to re-sign Erik Dampier.

Worst moment as a Warriors fan?

CHL: Draft day… every year. Somehow the Warriors always manage to draft a Dunleavy.

TE: When the Warriors let Rob Kurz walk. I thought he would be the cornerstone of our team for decades.

What’s your feelings on the current ownership/management of the Warriors?

Our mother taught us; if we don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

You’re named Warriors GM, How would you improve the team? What changes do you think need to be made?

CHL: I would try to get my hands on Ron Artest and Leon Powe. Clearly, Artest is now a Laker and Powe is about to sign with the Cavs, but the W’s need some down-low muscle and savagery down on the blocks. Bonus points for bringing Powe (an Oakland Tech grad) back to Oakland and reuniting Artest and Captain Jack.

TE: I don’t know if the GM has the power, but I would have to change the logo with the quickness. I have heard the rumor that they are getting new uni’s for next year, but I will believe it when I see it. Oaklandish needs to design some straight Town uniforms.

You can bring any current NBA player to the Warriors, who would it be?

CHL: Lebron James, no question. He’s the best player in the league and is a one man urban redevelopment plan.

TE: Realistically, the Warriors need a lock down defender for the wing. Stack Jack is getting older and doesn’t quite have the skills on that end anymore. And no, Devean George is not the answer. But for old time sake, it would be funny to bring back Donyell Marshall. He constantly looks loaded and would fit in perfectly in Oakland.

Finish the sentence, When the warriors win the championship, I will…..?

CHL: Rub Chris Gatling’s steel plated head.

TE: Finally get to see what a championship parade looks like in Oakland.

We didn’t know of the site before, but plan to post up here on the regular.
