Everyone’s favorite overpaid, non-producing center Andris Biedrins is back in the news.

As we all know, the man formerly known as “Goose” was facing tax evasion charges in his home country of Latvia back in July.

Well, Biedrins could only run for so long because judgement has finally been served and he has been fined a whopping 2,000 LVL ($3,730.60 USD) for buying a powerboat in the U.S., bringing it to Latvia and failing to pay the appropriate taxes according to Baltic-Course.com.

I have a few questions about this.

First, who buys a powerboat anymore? The only people I’ve seen use powerboats are secret agents, drug lords and Biggie & Diddy.

Second, how on Earth did he get his powerboat from the United States to Latvia? Did he bring it himself across the ocean? Did he pay to have it shipped? How much does it cost to ship a powerboat?

And finally, he was only fined a little less than $4,000? Beans seems to be getting off easy here considering the initial report of his evasion had him looking at a fine of up to $70,000 or even five-years in prison. Considering the staggering amount of money he gets paid to just run up and down the court and continue to defy the norm of free-throw shooting, you’d think the Latvian government would have tried to pry every single penny they could out of him.

Maybe they looked at his numbers the past two seasons and thought he was one of those end-of-the-bench guys who only gets the veteran’s minimum.

If only that were so.
